Igloo Products Corp: Sportbrights Line
Released in 2016
This is a redesign of a classic line of products from Igloo. Research into market trends showed the need for changes in materials, colors, and patterns. The patterns were created by one of our designers and used to add a new appearance without adding any cost to the product. The result was a growth in sales, with placement in Academy.
Reinvigorating a product line
One of the most difficult design prompts is "make it look better and cost less". The Sportbrights line successfully achieved this task.
Breathing new life
Replacing the original material with a printing method that was new to Igloo, the Sportbrights line achieved a new, market-relevant aesthetic while improving on cost.
Analyzing trends
Colors were chosen by evaluating all adjacent product categories, and identifying differentiation in colors year-to year in order to identify trends.
Learning and teaching
Our designer worked with suppliers to achieve a new printing method that had not previously been attempted. The result was a new pattern application that actually used less material than the previous design.
Specifications
CAD models and specification packages were made both to communicate dimensions to the factory and to create sell sheets for the sales team before samples were available.
Finding success
The Sportbrights line saw an increase in sales among major U.S. retailers, and gained shelf space that was in jeopardy.
